The steering comitee of the Global Netrwork of Investigative Reporters and national working groups meeting in Amsterdam between the 29th September and the 2 October 2005 have elected Toronto to host the 4th Global Conference. It will be hold in Spring 2007 and organised by the CAJ (Canadian association of Journalists).
In between, London will host in summer 2006 a European regional Conference on investigative reporting. It will be organised by the Center for Investigative Reporting, which is known to hold very high quality seminars on the topic.
The Conference will come back to Europe in fall 2008, as our Norwegian colleagues of “SKUP”, the Norwegian Foundation for investigative will welcome us in Oslo.
The decision to attribute those conferences to all three candidates which were candidates shows the will of the investigative journalists network to stay “global”. Our colleagues from Canada are also well organised and experienced in these kinds of events. They have been already assured to get IRE’s (Investigative Reporters and Editors) support . The IRE will bring our American colleagues and help to get grants so that our friends from less privileged continents can join us.
